Hormonal Imbalance Is One Of The Major
Acne Contributing Factors: Discover How To Balance Your
Hormones To Lasting Acne Free Skin
What Are Hormones and What Do They
Do?
Hormones (derived
from the word horman in Greek which means: "to set in
motion") are chemical messengers produced by your body
that transfer instructions between the cells. Hormones
are secreted to the bloodstream by a set of glands
called the endocrine system. Hormones are
responsible for the regulation of many important
functions; among them are: cell metabolism, muscle
metabolism, balance of our internal environment
("homeostasis"), sexual and reproductive function, sleep
and growth cycles, and the burning and storing of fat.
In regards to acne,
hormones also control and regulate
your skin oil production, or in simple terms, hormones
control the amount of sebum (oil) your sebum glands
produce.
It's only obvious
that if your hormones are for some reason, out of
balance, it will directly affect, in a negative way, on
your skin oil glands, making them produce a lot more oil
that needed. We already know that when this occurs and
combined with toxins being secreted through your skin,
acne is formed. That is the basic reason why we want to
keep our hormones in perfect balance, since when are our
hormones are in balance, the skin oil production is also
in balance and acne and all its horrible symptoms
(greasy skin, inflammation and puss) will not manifest
themselves.
How are hormones
regulated in the body?
Hormones
are produced and regulated in the body using a complex,
highly intelligent and delicate system. Much like a home
temperature system, when temperature rises, the
thermostat senses the rise and shuts down the heat and
when the temperature drops below the desired standard
point, the thermostat turns the heat up again. Although
in reality, the above example is quite simplified, this
is basically how the body uses hormones to regulate body
functions.
The body's cells
are much like the thermostat. They know exactly when and
how many hormones they need to function properly. The
hormones are the actual mechanism that the thermostat
uses to drop or raise the heat.
However, as the
thermostat (cells) senses the need to lower or increase
temperature, it gives instructions to the actual heat
mechanism (hormones) telling them to change the heat to
the desired level. These instructions, or type of
communication between the cells and the hormones needs
some sort of a wire or a messenger to be executed
properly.
The messengers, or communicators
between the cells and the hormones are called
Prostaglandins and without them there will be no
communication between the cells and your hormones. When
there is no communication, hormones will be out of
balance.
All About
Prostaglandins And Your Acne
Prostaglandins are
biochemicals that communicate with hormones and cells
and trigger cells into action. Prostaglandins work
inside the cells and help regulate the function of cells
and organs through the communication of cells and
hormones.
Among their many
functions Prostaglandins activate inflammatory responses
in the body, help clotting, aid reproduction processes,
increase mucus production to protect inflammation and
increase blood flow in the kidneys.
In regards to
acne, Prostaglandins make sure your androgen hormones are in balance,
as they regulate your hormones so that just the right
amount of sebum will be produced by your skin oil glands
and thus prevent excess amounts of sebum production that
leads to acne.
In order for
hormones to regulate properly and not
stay out of balance, your body needs to produce
sufficient amount of Prostaglandins. The only way your
body will be able to produce the required amount of
Prostaglandins is if you provide your body with certain
important nutrients, such as essential fatty acids. You
also need to provide your body with these nutrients from
quality sources and in a correct ratio; otherwise the
production of Prostaglandins will no be executed
properly.
Additionally you have to provide your
body with extra supplements that will help the
absorption of these Prostaglandins.
By doing so your
body will produce the right amount of Prostaglandins
that will help regulate your hormones, making your
hormones work in precise balance, not only preventing
the formation of acne but also other health conditions
associated with hormonal regulation problems such as
hair loss, excess body fat and PMS
symptoms.
Building A Stronger
Liver: How To Ensure Hormonal Balance By Removing Used
Hormones Out Of Your Body
Keeping a steady
communication between hormones and cells, using
Prostaglandins that regulate and keep hormones in
balance is not enough.
In a normal
system, where everything functions properly, as soon as
hormones do their job as instructed by the cells, the
used hormones that are not required by your body
anymore, are therefore quickly removed and expelled from
your body.
If these used
hormones are not quickly expelled, your system
becomes overwhelmed with excess hormones, as new and
fresh hormones continue to be secreted to make their
function. When your system is loaded with hormones, your
hormonal regulation pathways become chronically
imbalanced, trigger over production of sebum leading to
full grown acne.
What organ is
responsible for expelling used hormones from your body?
The answer is: your liver. Your liver is responsible for
clearing excess hormones out of your blood and lymph,
and expels them out of your body through the bowels and
kidneys.
Now, what happens
if your liver is for some reason sluggish and congested
with toxins? You got it. If your liver is weak and
cannot clear used hormones out of your system, it will
become overwhelmed and chronically imbalanced and you
will suffer from acne regardless of how much
Prostaglandins your body produces to regulate
hormones.
Conclusion: by building a
stronger liver we ensure the effective regulation of
used hormones to be expelled from our body, making our
hormones in perfect balance and our skin clear of acne.
