Rosacea skin
condition or "acne rosacea" or nose
acne is a very common facial disorder often mistaken for
acne. It is known as adult acne because it targets men
and women between 30-50 years whereas acne generally
affects teenagers and young adults. While rosacea
largely affects women and people with fairer skin,
normal acne does not make any such
distinction.
What
Causes Rosacea?
This is one area doctors are unsure of as the
exact causes of rosacea are unknown. However there are a
few suspects of acne rosacea. Needless to say, the
causes of acne rosacea are all internal such as an
unbalanced acidic level in the body. It is also caused
when the adrenal gland makes more hormones than is
needed and thus the hormones become imbalanced. Thus to
get rid of it, treating the external facial restrictions
is never enough - you need to actually treat the
internal causes.
Symptoms of Rosacea
The primary and sometimes the only symptom of nose acne are pinkish red patches
on the face that appear very similar to blushing or
sunburn. Tiny blood vessels dilate or break under the
skin and become very prominent, a condition referred to
as Telangiectasia. On the skin's surface, small cysts
(pustules) and bumpy red papules appear off and on just
like acne and if it is not correctly diagnosed and
treated as rosecea it will soon become a life long
problem. Mild symptoms ranging from sties and
inflammation of the eyelids, dryness, itching and
irritability inside the eyes and sensitivity to harsh
lights and glare affect the patient's eyes.
In rare cases, the cornea gets inflamed and
severely affects vision. To avoid complications from a
Rosacea skin
condition, the doctor must be contacted at the first
signs of pain or vision related symptoms. Since this
affects the forehead, cheeks, nose, mouth and chin, the
skin in these areas might thicken.
Treatment for Rosacea
Firstly follow these steps:
·
Avoid touching the
affected areas.
·
Do not rub the face or
the nose even if the itching is causing great
discomfort.
·
Do not consume hot
drinks, spicy food, alcohol and caffeine because they
affect digestion and aggravate
rosacea
·
Avoid anything that
might cause facial flushing
·
Avoid sunlight as much
as possible to prevent complications
Dermatologists generally prescribe antibiotics
for Rosacea skin
conditions. To reduce the redness and inflammation,
cortisone creams are also prescribed. If none of these
remedies work then laser surgery to close the dilated
blood vessels is the final
option.
The use of
strong medication to treat Rosacea skin condition,
especially if it is chronic, upsets the balance of your
body and creates fresh problems. So what can you do to
get relief? The holistic approach is the safest method
because it believes that the mind and body must be taken
as a whole and treated from inside and outside. Our
unnatural lifestyle of unhealthy eating, stress and
strong medication leads to a build up of toxins in our
body and rosacea is the external manifestation of this
imbalance. It therefore locates and corrects the root
cause of the problem from within. This holistic approach
promotes a healthy lifestyle of right nutrition and
exercise so that our well adjusted system will never
need harsh
medicines.
